When Mark Domiteaux was chosen to create this stunning home, the client had unique requests. He wanted the architecture to be inspired by, but not duplicate, an iconic Mid Century Modern house in Malibu California. There was to be expansive use of glass yet, it needed to be GREEN built and highly energy efficient. The materials were to be long lasting, low maintenance, yet beautiful. And, as a prominent public figure, the owner wanted the house to offer extreme privacy from the street. Domiteaux delivered!
Behind the stone façade lies a residence with spectacular architectural features and a warm and friendly ambiance. Nearly every room of the house opens to a backyard oasis that is thoughtfully designed around the serenity of the pool and gardens. Even the secondary bedrooms have private access to the pool as if they are exclusive villas at a beautiful resort.
The great room is a tasteful integration of an ultra modern, top of the line, Poggenpohl Kitchen with cozy stone fireplaces (yes there are 2 in the great room), rich Douglas Fir clad ceilings, and beautifully polished concrete floors. Both indoor and outdoor dining areas are connected with walls of glass that have generous openings for free-flowing entertaining.
Retreat to the master suite for quiet views of the pool, a soaking tub that appears to be dropped in a garden, and a private sauna for the ultimate way to unwind the stress of the day.
This home offers one surprise after another. It’s a masterful compilation of luxury and engineering that will “check” all the boxes on your wish list and wrap them into home that is truly a work of modern art.
